Transat does have 20 (?) A330s and some (don't know how many) A321s and A321Neos.

Of course the world airliner market has changed considerably in the last few months but last year these aircraft were highly desirable.  Desirable because of their efficiency.  There might be some benefit in taking on the headache with an eye toward the future.  Coming out of this with a modern and highly efficient fleet is a worthwhile goal.  The announcement about retiring the A319 and B767 seems to be in line with this goal.  Having no B767 sized aircraft in the fleet will leave a big hole - a hole that an A330 fits into perfectly.  Of course, there are probably many opportunities to get these aircraft elsewhere at the moment.
