Hey blue, my guess is because you're most likely using level 1 data, which is free with your questrade account. Level 1 is 15 minutes behind the current price so if you're putting in your limit orders tight to the current price you see its most likely above what your putting in and not filling. If you want to jump in at market price at any cost you just need to put your limit order well above and it will fill at the current trading price. Or you can pay for level 2 data which you can pay for a flat rate or variable depending on how much you trade. The more you trade the bigger discount questrade provides. Level 2 data is real time and also comes with perks of being able to see where other people's bid and asks are stacking up. As well as real time trades going through. If you trade lots level 2 is almost essential. Hope this helps, if not questrade also has great costumer service either through live chats online or over the phone. GL!
