RE:Right company in right industry- now! Hello? Anybody home? Wow, this is a quiet board. I've been watching for a year as my oil stocks took off. Now I'm plunking some profits into something "safe" like timberland. I heard a rumour land is a good investment because nobody is making any more of it. I also like the math of timberland. Every year we don't cut a tree it grows a little bigger and gets a little more valuable. It's almost as much fun as compounding interest and dividend reinvestment programs. So, I went to "the depot" on the weekend, aka Home Depot, and lumber is just crazy. Those trees are now worth more for 2 reasons. Too bad I wasn't worth more just because I got bigger around. So, does anyone here have links to useful industry info? Oil and nat gas regional pricing is very readily available compared to lumber, pulp, raw logs.
