Here Are The Issues with BB In My Opinion

Everyone knows the phone history with BB. The key during that era was BB phones were the dominant mobile device with a huge following and enormous market share along with patents on the physical keyboards. They took the then young industry by surprise and by storm. Enter the full-screen touch phone with its collapsing keyboard along with BB's hubris, and before you knew it, BB phones started their prolonged descent into obscurity.

The key difference in today's BB vs. the undisputed giant it used to be is that they are not dominant in any tech field right now and face stiff competition in every tech space they are in, so other companies likely won't be taken by surprise like back when BB came up with a phone that others could not match and had to play catch-up to try and come up with an alternative to pry market share away from the Goliath. Chen and company now have to fight for market share with many more players in the game, and it appears that, to date, they have not succeeded, and may never succeed beyond a modest slice of the pie in any / all tech areas in which they compete.

He should have advertised to ...more

If this is true, then I think (another) name change may help the situation. I suspect everyone remembers the company used to be called "Research In Motion". Then this happened in early 2013 (before Chen became CEO): Research In Motion Changes Its Name to BlackBerry Company adopts globally recognized brand, consolidates to single brand identity   WATERLOO, ONTARIO  ...more

At this point it's too late to change name. Stubborn Chen was approached by many at company to change name 5 years ago and Idiott old man kept giving example of his child having bad grades blah blah blah.  Enterprise does not know of new bb transformation. If they did then our rev would be hypergrowth. Our sales team has to spend significant amount of time educating clients on bb new ...more
