RE:The real BombardierBombardier stocks were up back then because they stretched the original challenger jet and made it into regional jet. Same time the US airlines went through major deregulations on route control and regional airlines/flying took off. Bombardier RJ were decades ahead of Fokker and Embraer was trying to get in.
Now Bombardier is again in the sweet spot. Market for bizz jet is booming and Bombardier already has Market leading jets in production and all remaining R&D expensive are low. Bombardiers competition have their competing product in R&D and they are getting delayed due to longer certification time (thank you Boeing Max) and due to labor shortage and supply chain issues on R&D parts. R&D is also costing more and taking longer.
