5 different companies

5 different companiesI just read that many own Bombardier's stock for 15-20 years. It's stunning.
In the last 20 years we had 4 different companies, all different from the others:
  • In 2004, after golden years with the success of the CRJ, Bombardier had many performance problems and Paul Tellier was mandated for a strategic review which result by the cession of BRP.

  • From 2007 to 2015 we had a new expansion with many jets programs (Lear, C Series, Global 6500, 7500 etc) and  and a flurry of rail contracts. Till 2015, Bombardier was a worlwide largely diversified company.

  • From 2015 to 2020, it was a near bankrupsy company, downsizing all they could. It was the end of the diversified company.

  • Since 2020, it is a company in recovery; and a pure player. A one niche only company.

My point is : is ll these companies always fitted with your investment strategy?  Did you sold it sometimes ?   Investing has basic principes; having a strategy is one, never fall in love with a company,  revising regularly your portfolio, taking a loss instead of waiting a miracle etc

The Bombardier stock with its volatility offers many high exit points, were you wise enough to benefit from them?  or are waiting more time to hit a home run ?  Your decision.

Take care, we are near another change; in 2024 and 2025, Bombardier will have to define its direction for the 2025-2030 years: will they start a new program (3-4 B$ investment) ?  It would be dificult to progress as a pure player, what will they do?

You will have to take a decision and have to live with it.
