SOMETHING TO KEEP AN EYE ON

The idea that business jets are bad for the climate seems to be getting traction, with the Greenpeace protest that just happened in Amsterdam. Traction in my books is two things. First, that some event happens, and secondly, that the media feels the story is newsworthy and picks up on it. The following article was just posted on CNBC. Climate activists swarm private jets at Amsterdam airport to protest pollution https://www.cnbc.com/2022/11/05/climate-protesters-swarm-amsterdams-schiphol-airport-.html?__source=androidappshare

Further to my last post, do a Google search of "Greenpeace Amsterdam business jet protest". Iwas surprised the coverage this has received is extremely strong, with immediate coverage by CNN, Reuters, The Guardian, Time, CBC, CTV, ABC, CBS,Washington Post, Tribune India, Bangkok Post, Bloomberg, The Japan Times, and others. Do that search for yourself to read this coverage from the ...more

That is why Bombardier has put out their declaration. That might have to become the new norm for private jet. Might bring more buisness to Bombardier. They are certainly aware of the issue.

gas61di56 Would you share with me the declaration of Bombardier you mentionned. I probably miss that declaration. And I would like more then hhapy to read it. Thank you in advance if you accept to share the declaration.

As it stands right now everything a human does is harmful to the environment and we can go on for days about what should be targeted to save the planet ... there is a war on everything and private jets are on the list for sure ... when we start adding the gases that livestock emit as a big problem it's inevitable that anything considered a luxury will be targeted ... some people don't ...more

Bicente I think green peace and all the justifiable ramblings that go on with regards to carbon emissions...I think greenpeace should have bigger fish to fry at this moment...   The bomber is addressing this as it moves forward, but their ois nothing and I mean nothing other than a total ban on oil that would satisfy greenpeace. It's obvious they go after the easiest targets...maybe they ...more

Club I totally agree with you. I don't think many Green Peace members can afford to buy business jets for themselves. But I am sure that many of them can and do afford beautiful cruises in the Caribbean etc... But how are such big ships not more or less harmful for the environment than business jets. But that they will hide well to speak about it not to put in danger their small happiness in ...more

The tone of your posts sure changed since your recent selling of part of your position. Just a short while ago you were posting frequent praises of BBD as one of the best multibagger opportunities you've ever come across. Shame! Shame!
Comment by Starsearcher80 on Nov 06, 2022 8:46am
Wow, you need to read more closely. As I CLEARLY stated I have a large core position that remains, and a small trading position that I sold. But the bigger point that I want to make here is that what position I have is IRRELEVANT. We are NOT here on this board to be cheerleaders or stick our heads in the sand. We are here to discuss events, BOTH good and bad, that could have impact on the stock ...more

Nordico - You're not the only one to notice that change tune. I guess it's normal to change your mind or adjust with whatever is going on.. just weird that it happens at the same time some other user that used to bash longs claims to now be one. Anyway, no one should influenced by what others say in here but we all know how people can somehow be manipulated.. conspiracy theories are the ...more

If you don't take the time to fully assess everything that could impact a company then you personally are the biggest danger to your own portfolio value. Again, this is not a cheerleading forum. It is a forum to discuss everything that impacts the stock. In fact, it was a clear assessment of a change in Bombardier that brought me to the company after years of avoiding it. But you didn't ...more

Star - I didn't mean to insult you and there's noting childish in the post..at least I dont think so. I just stated two things I noticed.. the other user who used to brag about his day-trading prowess and insult longs turn long and play nice and you somehow suddenly flipping from multiple-bagging hopes to putting up 2 postings that are in the opposite direction. You should read my post ...more

Hey Guys. Star adds a lot to this forum. His stockmarket market analysis and opinions are second to none and very helpful here. I for one welcome it. He had said that he sold his trading shares & kept his core position. His recent past post on the Ukrane war that created a political frenzy here, was a controversial article in his own words. He even said that he had second thoughts about ...more

Fully agree with you also BBD859 (sorry I read your post after I posted mine :)  ).  By the way, I also appreciate your posts and time you spend on this forum bringing your 2 cents.  It is so pleasant to read respectuous and valuable posts.  We may call this Maturity I believe.

Unfortunately, this maturity is only visible when things are going very well like the past weeks; Bashers stay silents ashamed and opportunists changed their minds without embarrasment.

Hey lb1. We know who those Basher are and if you haven't noticed? They're not included that group of good participating posters. Thanks for another oppurtunity to thank even some others. Flamingo, Mic, Luke, Von, It's up, Gas, Pat and Sylvia (who bought this stock, even without her husband's blessing. Hang in there Sylvia. Your payday is coming. Cheers

Funny, 2 or 3 of your favorites are on my ignore list. Different individuals, differents view. There's no problem.  I wrote often about the vertues of the ignore button. I don't want to do finger pointing or hurting anyone but I like efficency. My choice. My Bombardier board is usually 1 page long per day, no more, and it worth reading. No insult taken Nobody, and I offer up my own apology for being so sharp tongued.   For the most part, I like this board, and there are some bright people here with varying perspectives.  I just have little patience for people who incessently cheerlead, as that serves no purpose.  Again, we are here to make money, and to do that well, you need to entertain all thoughts and ...more

This is an already 5 year old article - there are others and more recent articles promoting cleaner fuels, etc. The company has been progressive in addressing the issue for now quite a few years. Private jets poluting the air are an important issue which deserves attention. However mostly media noise in my book for now. https://businessaircraft.bombardier.com/en/experience/insight/bombardier ...more
