New factor

Thru General Dynamics' comments this morning, we now know that the banking crisis has a big negative impact on biz jet orders.  At least it did for Gulfstream, so very likely the other players, too.  FRC is down big again between yesterday and today so far, so need to keep an eye on that development.
Comment by Truthifest on Apr 26, 2023 10:28am
Although I didn't look deeply, I have never read how biz jet planes are purchased. Never a discussion here, either.  I assume most if not all, are largely financed, as the $ amts are very large, and it's a capital asset that has a long life.  So, then, the availability of financing is very important.

There was some reporting this month that supply chain for aircraft builders is becoming a real issue   I did not check, but I wonder how  other bulders are doing because of this ?
Comment by Noredneck on Apr 26, 2023 10:40am
They talsk about that supply chain issue over one year AND Martel certified it was NOT a real issue for BBD... sooooo
Comment by clubhouse19 on Apr 26, 2023 10:43am
It don't matter what Martel thinks, its how the market takes it as everything now is just a moment in time and reaction is minute to minute.
Comment by naissance17 on Apr 26, 2023 10:52am
When was the last delivery? Athow many delivreries are we now?
Comment by MyNameIsNobody on Apr 26, 2023 10:53am
For longs it does matter what Martel thinks... or should I say 'said and knows' since it's his knowledge and grasp of what's going on with suppliers that allows him to analyze the situation with correct info. Of course the company is not immune to supply chain turmoils from one month to another but I do believe that he's not sugarcoating things when he states how things are ...more
Comment by clubhouse19 on Apr 26, 2023 11:18am
Of course, that's why I don't understand the hour to hour predictions that inevitable are wrong from so called longs unless of course they are misrepresenting themselves.

Club - Prolific posters that do not bring actual information to other users are just either looking for attention or newbies to trading or investing. On a self-deprecating note, I've been wrong most of the times when I ventured with guesses on this stock's' sp but nevertheless ended up in the green.. I guess being stubborn and sticking to fundamentals pays. Good luck with your ...more

Absolutely right
Comment by clubhouse19 on Apr 26, 2023 10:51am
Sorry I just noticed you stated Martel "certified" How can Martel certify anything of that sort ?
Comment by Inuk138 on Apr 26, 2023 1:54pm
Exactly, question to Martel, Does Bombardier has supply issue, answer from Martel no we are controlling the problem, are you sure yes. Question has been asked more then 10 times to Martel same answer.
Comment by clubhouse19 on Apr 26, 2023 2:05pm
How long ago was that question asked ?
Comment by Truthifest on Apr 26, 2023 10:49am
club, GD has said it's been a problem for awhile now, but what they said on the call this morning reveals their problem to be lingering longer than they and investors thought.  Bomba seems to have done better w this problem, perhaps because of the massive number of people they quickly assigned to it, perhaps because of the nature of which parts by which suppliers.  GD said they ...more

Thanks for the info and even if the Bomber may be doing better on it , the perception by the market I think would be that it affects everyone irrespective of what Martel said or didn't say at the time.
Comment by Truthifest on Apr 26, 2023 11:07am
You're very welcome, and I concur.  Probably at least a little black light halo.   A new issue is the apparent link between the banking crisis here in the US and orders.  I always assumed financing availability and terms is a big deal, tho there has never been discussion about that here or anywhere else that I've seen, anyway.  Probably because it was readily ...more

And the Russell 2000 is regional bank-heavy, and doing poorly recently, and Bomba is a small cap, so that macro linkage probably isn't helping matters with BBD, either. Classic case of: the hip bone's connected to the, thigh bone, the thigh bone's connected to....

But maybe tomorrow Bombardier will show strong orders.  That should b very helpful to stock action, which has been looking tired recently.   I don't expect additional supply problems, just slow, steady improvement.  We know that they did deliver more than expected in Q1, after all.
Comment by clubhouse19 on Apr 26, 2023 11:22am
Probably right but that is why I only take things day to day as evrything flips on a dime especially in this kind of enviroment. Analysts and chart readers have never looked more foolish than they have been in the last 2 - years.
Comment by Truthifest on Apr 26, 2023 11:57am
I use fundamentals as a investment gatekeeper, then use upside momentum from there.  I typically take concentrated positions in risky stocks, so have a hair trigger.  Have done well with BDRBF so far, since I started investing in it the past couple years, where strong upside has dominated. Increasingly looking like the upside from here is a far less multiple than it recently was, so have ...more

A check GD sp and don't know if any relevance, but percentage wise, bbd and gd down near the same % points.
Comment by johnney on Apr 26, 2023 11:44am
Remember Martel said recently that for now it's in control, not sure of this!
Comment by johnney on Apr 26, 2023 12:59pm
If supply chain is becoming a real issue, Bombardier won't run from that!
Comment by stockitnow on Apr 26, 2023 11:18am
From OEM side, pre 2008 they used to take small deposit from buyer at time of signing.  And as the aircraft got build the buyer would put more down to match the increase value of the aircraft. By the time the aircraft is completed the buyer has paid for most of the airplane.  This protects the manufacturer.  Recently  I was told that now most of the OEM require 60 to 70 ...more

stockitnow, thx for the comments.   Would be helpful to have a rundown of financing, and how the banking crisis in the US and Europe is affecting that (as well as the likely much higher rates these days).  That crisis dramatically affected Gulfstream orders for 25% of a quarter, and it has resurfaced this week, with bad news out of FRC.  Maybe someone here is in the capital ...more
