Two things

Canada is in trouble financially. I blame government overspending (mismanagement). Basically, we are in recession. Look around. Canadians are financially stressed. The US market is doing much better.

There are two things I am thinking about:

1) Bombardier client locations and how they are doing and
2) The ownership of BBD shares.

  1. Bombardier clients. Bombardier are telling us that their clients are doing well. For example, flight hours up for the fleet carriers, so they are awash with FCF. Majority of sales are to US, Europe, Middle East, Asia. Beautiful. Bombardier Book to Bill is doing well so no problem yet.

  1. BBD shares. What percentage of stock ownership is Canadian and what percentage is outside Canada? Does anyone know? Are the shares Canadian majority owner?
Do we have to wait for Canada to recover out of recession before we get top dollar for our shares?
Me, I have serious confidence in BBD, but I am afraid that the Canadian economy scares me.

What do you think?

All the best,

Snowey

Bombardier already reports in USD and has to comply with all US regulations generally (not securities specifically) and they do but they aren't getting the benefit of the huge US retail investor base who unlike many Canadians, do not have a negative opinion of the company to begin with. The debt overhang remains an issue and Bombardier needs to continue aggresively bringing it down. One thing ...more

Great points Pablo. We should be on the NYSE. That even the problem of the "uptick rule"
Comment by BBDB859 on Dec 04, 2023 5:56pm
Sorry. I meant it even SOLVES the shorting with implimintation of the "uptick rule".
Comment by PabloLafortune on Dec 04, 2023 8:45pm
Hi 859, I'm sorry but what is this uptick rule? I find it easier to trade in Canada than in the US tbh but I don't doubt that its not as well regulated as down south.
Comment by clubhouse19 on Dec 05, 2023 10:27am
Uptick rule was that if you wanted to shirt a stock it had to be done higher than the previous trade of that stick. Was abolished in 2007 and was partially reinstated in the US. Canada just left it abolished completely sucking up to bay street
Comment by BBDB859 on Dec 07, 2023 10:30am
Hi Pablo. The need to partially implement the "Uptic Rule" here is as important as it was in the US, as Club explained how it works. The reason I researched it was also due to Club making me aware of it, way back early in the 2018-9 shorting of the Bomber shares. The way I remembered it was that, the "uptic Rule still allows shorting. But a shorter can only the stock on the upswing ...more

Sorry reposted Pablo, I left out the word short. But a shorter can only "short" the stock on the upswing of the stock.

Hi, for what reason BBD ist not on NYSE? Ty

I asked the head of HR earlier this year about the Company getting listed in the US.  He gave a non-answer answer.  Some of you guys should ask, too.  They might not even think it's any kind of priority.  Overdue time to change that.
Comment by BBDB859 on Dec 06, 2023 10:05am
Club is good at these types things. He gets through to Richer. I'll certainly give it a go too. In fact I stopped in the midle of this post, so I can do it. So I've sent it off to general Relations. In fact I just sent one to Richer too.
Comment by clubhouse19 on Dec 06, 2023 10:44am
I would not be too enthusiastic at a US listing right now... In any case, how many of these requirements does BBD.b meet.. I will let those most interested and enthused about this listing to review. 859..maybe you can ?  you can find other exchnge requirements here also. https://venturelawcorp.com/listing-requirements-of-the-new-york-stock-exchange/
Comment by BBDB859 on Dec 06, 2023 5:57pm
Sorry Club. I just tried the site and got bogged down on some requirements. That site you sent for the NYSE listing requirements, is geered more to traders. It's way more trading oriented, I have expertise on the Economic side. I'm not that familiar with trading lingo. For example, the # of shares traded daily or yearly. I think that someone who trades this daily should do it. I get it ...more

Why ask the head of Human Resources questions on corporate finance? And what people should also be emailing investor relations about is buybacks, buybacks, buybacks. Why hasn't Bomber amended its NCIB with the tsx to allow them to purchase more than 600k shares for the year. Not doing so puts out a signal of weakness to those abusing the shareprice. I sure hope they've been buying up the ...more

HR was a typo by me.  Head of IR is who I contacted, via email.   I believe they should not use any of their cash on buybacks, but keep doing what they've been doing and spend it on development and debt reduction.  This is a competitive capital intensive industry and they're still too leveraged.
Comment by BBDB859 on Dec 07, 2023 9:02am
I agree with your assessment of the LTD been too large at $5.5B. We are all in agreement here on the Board. We've talked about this. I'm under the opinion that it  should come down to about $4B by 2025. It desperately needs to, to even keep up with the basic commitments. The huge Buybacks are not in their path right now. Even $4B is still high in mho. I would feel comfortable at $3 to ...more

Agreed, and not just by the few investors here on this chat board, but by the investment community at large, as evidenced by the very low multiples.  A highly leveraged pure play in a cyclical industry?  That's what happens.  And the Company knows this, of course, which is why their financial focus has been and will continue to be, aggressive debt reduction.  I hope short ...more

I don't know if I agree that they've short-changed any development Truth. Yes they are going after the military contracts strongly, like their competitors. But as far as, not investing what must be invested in their programs. I think they done a great job. Their whole platform is very competitive.

Haven't checked in awhile, but for a couple years Dan Foley remarked that Bomba needs to upgrade at least one of their planes.  I can't remember which, I think a smaller one maybe, but he would point out what Gulfstream was doing, mostly.  And recently Enbraer got a ton of orders IIRC for such aircraft.  And Dassault has a wider than Bomba's big plane coming in 2025 ...more

I think what you're referring to Truth is, the Challenger 650. It was the one that needed referbishment. The Global 6500 was refurbished, and they did it along with Global 6000. This is the plane that's been attracting so much attention on the Military side. Can someone with any knowledge on this, try to answer Truth's question. My knowledge on all the models, is just not up ...more

Hi Truth. I just remembered the name of the knowledgeable poster on the Bomber planes platform. His name was stockitnow. He hasn't posted here for some time. I used to  enjoy reading his posts.
Comment by flyman12 on Dec 08, 2023 10:48am
B. Could you also have been thinking of Starsearcher80? Haven't heard from him in quiet a while.
Comment by BBDB859 on Dec 08, 2023 11:49am
No not Starsearcher. Because Star was just a pumper/trader, with extensive trading experience, he (star) was an in, and out guy.  The guy's handle I'm thinking of was Stockitnow. He was a pilot. He knew planes, and was very educated on them.
Comment by Truthifest on Dec 11, 2023 8:23am
I remember Stockitnow.  Could use his comments again.  I didn't always agree with those, but it added value to this board.

Ye it did. His info was valuable. we need those informative posters. Cheers
Comment by clubhouse19 on Dec 11, 2023 12:09pm
Yup...You have to wonder since he claimed emphatically that there was no such thing as the stock being manipulated or even naked shorted even at the height of the last major take down and in face of all the evidence and allowed by the regulations as published  .  Nothing much was learnt whatsoever from this poster that has not been stated here already by most.

The US market is doing much better. IMO its not that they are doing much better ..perception becomes reality while the whole world revolves around the us economy and perceived differently.   How can you move forwrad when Canada and the provinces continue to trash their own and keep on sucking up to below the border for fear of reprisal.
