Return Capital via Special Dividend

Now here's something I think we could push management and the board on... (although they probably won't care).

The problem I see with a sustainable dividend (besides the power plant income) is that it will:
A) be miniscule
B) won't be sustainable due to commodity price fluctuations and cash flow

Why doesn't Conifex take their windfall this year and do like Norbord and issue as pecial dividend to shareholders?

If they make 50M in profit, can't they distribute 5-10M of that as a one-tiem special dividend that works out to about .10 - .20 cents a share?   I would welcome that idea.

It would be a smart move.  I believe it's in the same spirit as the RBC option for the "Saved by the Bell" report for earlier this year.   I think the PP should pay at least 1/2 of it's cash as a dividend, which is an implied $0.16 share or 16% yield.   The mill can and should generate cash for the balance sheet.  It should be self sufficient and not ...more

Thanks for your extremely thorough commentary on the issues.   It would be interesting for someone to have a hat with Jordan Neeser, if anyone can actually get a hold of someone at Conifex.  I've had a brief response from him previously, but this was before he began his current role. I just want to hear some sort of plan on how they are going to provide shareholders some value. ...more
