Q3 report not as good...dividend in mid 2022 and not now

This is a disappointing news to many who had baked dividend reinstatement into CJ's SP...  Dividend to be probably reinstated in mid 2022 though they had spent a lot of narrative to explain for the rationale...

Considering all the oil companies out there doubling or tripling dividends, I don't think this will play well tomorrow.  I understand the rationale and appreciate the explaination and plan - but oil is up big time and shareholders haven't been given anything.  No dividend and no real share buybacks.

I agree, very disappointed with not starting the payout, but I like information, especially since they have laid a specific plan that they can be held to rather than 'we will look at this later' line we have been getting. If they do not stick to this phase plan they have laid out they should very much be held accountable by us shareholders with no question on letting our votes ...more

Jay I am not sure what you and other CJ people see in it over Obsidian Energy. Obsidian has a 347M cap to CJ 756M Obe Shares Outstandng 74 M (will be going up soon to like 80 on a deal) to CJ 150M. OBE Q3 funds flow 59.3M to CJ 37.5M Only thing CJ has better is debt level...like 200M difference between the companies. But in a 80 Wti and 5 dollar NG price enviro...why are retail investors giving ...more

When I see retail push some of these stocks to crazy levels it makes me want to go to the sidelines.   Gear Energy is even worse. 258m shares outstanding and retail in Gear are hoping for a divy lol at some point. Even a 1 cent a q divy would cost gear 10m and they didnt even total CF that in q3. Gear doesnt have the Cashflow ability for 258m shares oustanding to pay a large divy.  ...more

I think it's worth remembering that it's only been nine months since WTI passed the US$55 mark. CJ started off the year overburdened with bank-enforced hedges that have taken at least half of the year to wind down. Realistically, the company has just started to make money in this past quarter. At this point I'm content to see them pay down bank debt over the next 2 or 3 quarters ...more

Oh I am factoring in CJ getting better results in the future and I am not saying CJ business model isnt viable but I am talking valuation.  Everyone is going to have good numbers. At 166 million shares when fully diluted....even a 50 cent divy is 83 million dollars. Puts it itno context on potential upside.

I'm not judging any producer over any other at this point, I'm just analyzing what I have, it's potential to pay me and predict at what rate. I've been holding Cardinal for a few years now, Cresent Point and Bonterra a few years longer, all of them have not delivered what I have hoped which was 6-10%+ investment growth/returns year over year, it's been a rough go in ...more

Thanks Jay and I didn't mean to sound condescending or arrogant. I write so fast I don't proof read my tone or spelling. Makes sense what you are saying. I have a narrow focus sometimes and I assume everyone has the time I do and trades the same amount as I do. You are not missing much with O&G sector...I spend a disgusting amount of time on it I look at something stock related 7am ...more

No worries buddy I didn't take it a wrong way, I just see new participants on the board and don't want anyone looking at me as if I've picked this for a thing over others for anything more than a past dividend payout because at one time it was one of the top 3 payers. I remember VET was anouther option I was considering at the time. I got in at what I thought was a good price on a 9 ...more

It's smart to pay off most of the debt first . With everyone on the climate change bandwagon getting financing in the future won't be easy . It's better to have a dividend that is sustainable than to pay one for a few months then need to cut it again . Anything can happen with the clowns in Ottawa  and Washington .

In comparison to their peers this Quarterly report sounds like a statement of excuses and justification for lack there of real substance. I sold out of my position today after hitting my $5 price target. The buying during the final few minutes of the market made me question my decision but after reading this report, im at peace with it. Cardinal has a future, but additional value im not sure yet ...more
