RE:Analyst on BNN

RE:Analyst on BNNMarty57 says"So my point is if you like the Suncor offer, sell your shares on the market and go buy Suncor.  If you believe in the recovery of the oil price (as Suncor clearly does), you should hang onto your COS shares and take your chances on the oil price.

That has been said a lot, but what you seem to forget is you get a Suncor without the COS assets in that scenario.  Most having lost money on COS would like to get a premium and still have the upside when oil price rises.

Anyone buying oil stocks, just like Suncor management must believe oil price will be higher in the future; the question is how long will it take and what will be the new normal.  Fortunately for Suncor, they are buying long term and don't have to worry about prices in 6 month to 1 year from now.   For COS, it's another matter, they are cash flow negative, paying out their dividend by increasing debt and the longer oil prices remain low, any unexpected problems at Syncrude (have been lots in the past) will just further dilute the shares and increase debt.

Here's an ideal, why don't IMO and SU join together to buy out COS.
