RE:RE:COS Run By Idiots, Everyone Says Suncor SmarterColdandWet says "cos isn't an oil company. They just invest in one. Maybe saying Exxon/IOL mgmt is inferior to Suncor, but I disagree with that too. "

I agree, COS isn't a company because they only have a 37% stake in syncrude which is runned by Imperial Oil.  So why is the ceo paid almost 5 million a year; why are they paying all the other executivesr?  What are they doing to try to create value for shareholders except waiting for oil price to rise?  To me, that's the whole issue.

There's no companies that won't have difficulties or make mistake but shouldn't the CEO be trying to grow the company.  Any successful business do not stand still, they try to grow their business every year.    My main reason for favouring Suncor over COS is Suncor is not sitting on their assets, they keep trying to grow; they will make mistake and maybe in 10 years time problems can cause them to underperform an independant COS; nobody has a crystal ball to see the future.  But for me, I'd rather invest in a growing company and that's my main reason for favoring Suncor over COS.

If I want tork to oil I would  invest in the barrel of oil directly so than when oil double so will your investment and will not be affected by operation problems that have plagued COS.
