phoenix; The strength in the Share Price on Friday surprised me. I suspect that it may be a bit of a “Relief Rally” (Thank God They Got Rid of NATO!) and possibly some short covering.   My “optimism” re the future of Canexus was based on them getting what I felt was a realistic price for NATO (a least $200m). Although selling NATO will eliminate the current “bleeding” when the consequences of ...more

Hi Blue - I feel your pain (i'm in the same boat) - but my take - there is more plenty more upside at current prices.   I just posted Scotia's report.  I haven't a clue why TD has valued Chlor Alkali at $150M and suggested Doug would rather sell at this price and drive shareholder value lower than retain the asset (which would drive a higher shareholder value).   I ...more

Ocean; I don’t know if you have access to the full TD report.   What TD has estimated is what they feel Superior Plus would be willing to pay for N. Van. in the current market. Potential acquires are always looking for bargains and Superior is a logical acquirer at the right price. Now that NATO has been “dumped” Canexus may not be quite as desperate to sell N. Van. and hold out for a decent ...more

I agree - time will tell if sticking with this is the right decision.  Right now - CUS is the "devil I know" - so I put a premium on that (ie. I have researched this stock to no end so have to stay the course with my target which is closer to Scotia). If I had to redeploy to another stock - I haven't a clue what's good out there that would merit as much research as I have ...more

I guess your research is not up to snuff Ocean112. The signs were all there, but you simply chose to ignore them... Too funny... Kherson

So why did you miss the signs on all your great buys Kherson ? Like PSN or PLT.UN or APP or SGL or SLI etc etc

PS - I read the full report from TD - and yes Superior may pay $150M - but I can't imagine Doug dumping this at the same valuation as NATO (NATO was negative cashflow - this at least is slated to generate $22M cashflow in 2015 and will ride the upside as oil recovers - these are the dominant players in the oil patch with 50% market share for HCL when (if) fracking picks up long term).   ...more

With what has happened here, I would suggest that Private Equity (an activist investor, not an outright owner) is not far from coming in and taking a significant stake and then exerting some muscle.  Step 1 will be demanding that the Chairman of the Board should resign and other Board Members with Blunderheim blood on their hands take a walk. What's happened ...more
