RE:RE:RE:RE:cve

RE:RE:RE:RE:cveI don't Short, I don't play Options, I don't play the future market, I don't even play Commodities ETFs anymore.    I try to keep it very simple.  Just buy and sell common stocks.    Husky Preferreds were the first time I played Preferreds.... and I only have Warrants because of the Conversion to CVE.

I have a general idea of hedges, options.... Just because I don't know exactly every detail about them doesn't mean what I'm saying is totally wrong.

Is it TRUE or NOT.... You're Hedges reduces your potential gains?    My point was that.... You stated it was a no brainer but then you put hedges in which reduces your  potential gains which contradicts yourself.

While I think your move was smart, a good move..... my point still stands.   But I'll give you this, you were probably talking about over a year ago it being a "no brainer".....not now.... and that's why you hedged.

You actually got me thinking.... If I hedged instead of selling, I would have Locked in my GAINS without actually selling and triggering a Huge Capital Gain and with it HUGE TAXES to pay.   If I hedged, I could hold that hedge until I had a Huge Capital Loss in which then I could unwind my hedge and sell my shares to trigger a GAIN to offset my Loss and pay no tax.    Only problem is, I haven't had a loss in many years, let alone a loss large enough to offset this particular gain.

Hope this idea helps you.    Nobody likes to pay taxes if they don't have to.

All just my opinion/view/thinking.
