Is it possible...

that both leaks are true? If they are getting down to the short list from multiple suitors, then some will be served notice that their bids do not qualify. Given that these 2 firms are not currently shareholders, it makes sense that they were just bargain hunting. This may just confirm that they are closer to a buy out and working the short list now... hence 'ongoing'.

That is a good thought. Remember, if you have 4 guys in a room and 2 say, "MT you want too much" and they walk out, then you will have a report that says, BX and CG just walked out of the deal. There are still people in the room. BUT, and I mean BUT,,,, with the way the stock reacted by this news, you can kiss $65USD goodbye. This showed the remaining guys that if they also walk away ...more

I agree Fd12, MT was under pressure before now will be even more as I said before. They should have halted after spike and release what's going on. Shorts covered mostly today and MT lost the 2nd round. No fund manager wants to own a stock that has been down for months. They should disclose what the offer was and let shareholders decide or reject all offers and stop with this takeover talks ...more

Who says they walked out? They likely did not make the short list and were notified as such, got pissed and ran havoc.
