It's common practice leading up to a financing. One of the purposes for allowing short sales in fact - lowers the risk of losing money on the deal, according to those who support the practice. I

I'm holding onto my shares too. ENB has raised the divi 21 times in the last 20 years, and have never missed or reduced, all the while doing deals like this along the way.

Short position
Interesting how in the last 2 weeks up to this deal the short postion popped almost 20% - going from 47 million to 55 million. so they shorted 10% of the number to be issued in the bought deal
