has middlefield reduced it position a bit?

The Common NAV posted by Middlefield is always plus or minus one cent from my expected NAV but most days it is dead on.

ENB has been down six days in a row.  During that time, my Expected NAV has consistently been running a cent below the declared NAV.

What does that mean?

It could either be six days of rounding error to the positive side (very unlikely) or something has changed.

My guess, and it's only a guess, is that Middlefield hasn't added to its position with the recent divided.

Why would they do that when they have consistently owned 0.44 shares of ENB for every ENS Unit for a long time?

If Middlefield thinks (or knows because they are a significant insider) ENB will be dropping shortly as per the recent ENB announcement that they would be raising $2.7 billion), Middlefield could be keeping the recent cash injection from the dividend on hold in anticipation of buying ENB at a lower price.

If ENB closes the day UP, and my assumption is correct, my Expected NAV should be a cent low when Middlefield published today's closing NAV tomorrow morning.

Who knows.  I just try to make sense of the numbers.

Very Good questions  to ask MF directly IMO   Noted: we own ENB.T direct through TDBWDI (trading account) with NO middle man getting paid and collect  the reg Q div  (last one June 1st @  .915CDN per share)  current yield @ 7.39%.      Never owned a EIF &  believe owning a company has an advantage over any ETF.....All comments welcome ...more

Good post. Nothing wrong with owning the just the company common shares. If you're neutral or less risk tolerant it may be better to stay away from leveraged ETF's. It all boils down to what the individual is comfortable with. If you're very bullish on a company and there is an ETF that offers considerable upside with leverage and over 13% distribution that is for more risk tolerant ...more

cttgivr.....good points... A few thoughts... 1....leveraged investments such as ENS make sense if one is positive or at least neutral WRT to the underlying holdings (ENB in this case) 2...the same point WRT Point 1 in terms of your view of the market direction overall 3....buying leveraged investments also means being careful about the price relative to NAV.  As I have posted many times, ...more
