Recommendation

RecommendationCan you give me your top picks (stocks or ETFs) in the following sectors along with a brief comment? The sectors are: Financials, Energy, Healthcare, Consumer Staples, Tech and Consumer Discretionary.

Financials: EQB. Buying back shares, and a differentiated financial exposure within Canada.

Energy: TOU. Cheap shares (like most in the sector), returning capital and has a strong balance sheet.

Healthcare - Options are slim in Canada, so we might side with an ETF here such as XHC.

Staples - PBH - A well run company with a fair valuation and offers an exposure that is a bit different from more traditional staples names.

Tech - LMN - Healthy balance sheet and potential to continue with acquisitions (no dividend).

Discretionary - DOL - Steady grower with a mix of growth and stability. A slower economy might also benefit a name like DOL versus other discretionary names. (5iResearch)
