The market is paying up for this difference and leverage it provides. If you look at recent history FTN was trading at similar or greater NAV premiums in 2009 and 2011. However I do note that the leverage works both ways - if the NAV decreases this one will get hit with proportionately a much greater to the downside. So if you are still bullish on Cdn and US financials the leverage FTN provides will give you a better return. If not - look for something less volatile.
