So last trade @ 8.18 leaves the commons trading at a slight discount before DISTRIBUTIONS are factored in.
Value of the commons AFTER dist would be $8.13, so still a very strong value for a high yielding split fund common with over $3 of coverage above the 15$threshhold.

Mouserman...thanks again for your posts...very informative to say the least Yep there are a number of ways to play splits.  So in that sense as a trading vehicle they provide more combinations than regular companies.  We will see how things play out, but I decided today to sell some of holding since there is a double payout - commons and preferreds and may be able to pick up some back ...more

Yes , and the reason i track the NAV is so I can buy the best values, based on where i see the fundamentals. I do believe the market is a bit overbought, but not selling anything i hold right now... FTN is cheap, LFE is a bargain, and FFN also looks quite good, atlho i am still not sure on the US banking sector... Markets are green to start the day, and FTN even after distributions are figured in  ...more

Yes Mouserman - the key thing you said was that the you think the market is overbought.  I agree.  The market sentiment has been in the Greed or Excessive Greed for a number of weeks.  From many years as a market professional working on The Street, I know that this is a Red Light and those in "the know" will treat this with caution.  This is in part why I sold some of ...more
