If an index wants to add a company to its fund, I'm not 100% sure that that company needs to know what an index is going to do (Not like a fund needs permission to do so when adding its shares to their index). This news release you are referring to might not or will not be a company news release. So looking for a news release solely on the company website or SEDAR will leave you short on information, investing in companies can be a time constraint for most of us retail investor as the tools we have are not as efficient as what the pros use. Seems to me that if an index is to add a new company , it would likely have done some research on that company and likely informed the company if added, but I certainly do not "know" that to be a fact. And even if it were to tell the company of its inclusion in an index, there is also the chance that the company would not understand the potential

I'm not entirely sure how all that works, but funds add and drop companies from their funds as they see fit. I would think it could be time consuming if they were to notify every company when they add or remove.
