If you talk to family and friends then you can see the struggles that people are going through. I think that's what matters in the end is the quality of life that has degraded especially here in Canada. Many people are taking on multiple jobs to help support their family. On the other hand, you have StatsCan revise Q2 gdp numbers (a big lie) to avoid the press hounding them about a technical recession. It's all BS imo and I believe Canada is already in a recession and the US may simply avoid one altogether. It helps to have 30 year mortgages compared to 5-year terms in Canada and that could be the big difference this time around.
