If you are under 40, you will have plenty of time to recover if you don't plan to retire before 60. Ten years of active investment is a long time. Even moderately conservative investments in solid companies, bought in dips and downturns, can give you 3x-5x returns less than a decade.If you are willing to take some risks with at least part of your porfolio, you can do a lot better than that.
