Eric Nuttall Trashed Kelt today..

Basically no catalysts, sold their best asset off at the low of the market.. etc etc etc etc.

Do I agree?

No.

Kelt is debt free and has excellent assets.   But I do think they need to acquire soon as all the other high quality assets/names have run up, so nothing is as cheap any more.. can't sit on their hands.

He didnt trash it. He compared it to other oil companies. Timing is everything in the life cycle of an energy co. And investing. Nutall is invested in companies that will see share price re-rates due to drastic changes in free cash flow as a result of increasing commodity prices. Not in companies de-risking large tracts of speculative acreage. That will come later. Once oil is comfortably above ...more

Actually, Nuttall suggested the caller sell Kelt and buy 3 stocks instead - Tamarack, Seven Generations and Enerplus - or his fund. He explained they probably could have gotten more for their best asset Inga/Fireweed as they sold at the bottom of the cycle plus they're not drilling until Q3 thus his view that there's not much upside compared to other names.

I was reporting what he said. I find he has good insights at times, other times it's just consensus. He does change horses midstream too often, which he admits. PD for example.

Think independently - For Nuttall to try and reroute investment to one of his holdings, because Kelt's horizon for massive growth is "too far out", (less than nine months), his advice is more than questionable. The stock market was originally developed for companies that couldn't get conventional lending, so went to the public - weighing a 9 month incubation period for a company ...more

Dont confuse nuttall with a analyst. A fund manager puts his money where his mouth is. An analyst is a wet behind the ears finance grad that has no skin in the game. He is generally successful because he knows the business, is nimble and, like you said, switches horses.

A fund manager advises after they have made their moves, never before = buy what I own and am looking to sell, sell what I want to buy. An analyst, also can have conflicts of interest, but not as blatant as a fund manager. I wouldn't trust Nattall for a second, unless we rubbed shoulders and I knew weeks/months before what story he was pitching next. He has no business being a public ...more

Total bait and switch commentary....quite blatent at times
Comment by Grandcentral on Feb 10, 2021 11:11am
Precisely. Wait until the switch happens on Kelt and the ones caging this bull finally set it free - we have a lot of pent-up gains, and the fund managers are trying to maximize their future take. Good chance Feb 25 will be the day if reserves are updated enough to shed light on what Kelt is sitting on. It's a sure thing, and not many O&G stocks have so much going for it. Using what is a ...more

Of course he advises after after he makes his moves. And why he made them. You think he is a charity? We knew he sold kelt the day they sold inja. He told us he liked tve and erf for the last 6-8 months. Because your holdings aren't performing can hardly be blamed on a claimed bait and switch by a fund manager. We're in a bull market finally. Be happy.  Wish I had bought Crew.

Nothing to do with holdings not performing bud...I bought kel at 1.85...I am totally long and holding. you are misunderstanding my comment. chill

I like the company.  Frustrated that its so seriously lagging its peers.  Wrong time to be selling of course.  Hopefully some good news on the reserves front on the 25th - walk lightly and carry a big stick?
