Really do not understand the thinking here.... 30%+  premium in this current market is just craziness.

Buying the div that seems safe for awhile. Probably only one more .5% rate hike left in Sept....

Agreed.  When I first started investing all I saw in LBS was blue chip diversification and the juicy distribution.  The subtleties of the impact of NAV and ROC were lost on me at the time.  Still, it's been an excellent investment for me, especially when I've sold and rebought when suspension of distribution was imminent, thus avoiding much of the huge capital gain and ...more

bubba, we're no where near done. I am expecting a 3/4% hike in Sept and another 1/2 or two 1/4 pt jumps before the end of the year. Probably more next year to start. Inflation is entrenched and is going to take a few good rate hikes by the BoC / FED to get it under control. The 2% goal is a long, long way off.

one more thing.... if corporate earnings are not overly bearish and the market runs through the balance of July and August, it will only give the BoC more ammunition to raise rates aggressively come September.
