RE:RE:Mining creates WEALTH

RE:RE:Mining creates WEALTH

Without mining in Canada's North, climate change would be a bit less pressing and treaties with the indigenous people would've been respected. But you are probably one of the 3% of climate change deniers...
The mine in Amulsar is far from being beneficial for the Armenian people, and there are many dark sides in Lydian's work. Even the possibility of mining in Amulsar is already destroying all the tourism, mineral water and health-resort economy in Jermuk - a town less than 10km away from Amulsar where thousands of people have been making their living for generations of the economies mentioned above. And Lydian did not even list Jerkum as an affected community (which is, by the way, the largest populated place in the whole area); in 2016 after much pressure of the civil society, Jermuk was finally recognized by Lydian as an affected community. But guess what? Even then public hearings for the purpose of asking the opinion of Jermuk residents were organized not in Jermuk but in a village where locals have been hostile to Jermukians... guess how many residents of Jermuk participated in it - 2? Other communities downstream Arpa river, who make their living on winery and grapes, are to this day not recognized as affected communities, although Lydian plans to put industrial water (after cyanidetreatment only, and no heavy metal treatment) into Arpa river.
It is really misleading to say that the people of Armenia will benefit from mining in Amulsar. Lydian hasn't even properly calculated the risks of Acid Rock Drainage which, if happens, will cost Armenia at least a million dollar per year for over 200 years.
