On Monday, the Department of Energy (DoE) reported no change to the inventory held in the Strategic Petroleum Reserve (SPR) in the week ending July 14, ending 15 straight weeks of decreases in the SPR inventory to a 40-year low of 346.8 million barrels.

Amazingly , the USA emptied their SPR at a time that the Americans have been net exporters of petroleum products .,Yet at the sane time their crude production has begun to decline. This leaves probably at best a few years before they will need to repenish the storage with imports. Those imports will need to be mostly heavy crudes from Canada since US refineries require these crudes to operate
