Theory

NWH management conceded that addressing their balance sheet after UK jv failure would be choppy and time consuming... asset sales and JV could take over a year to close. Dividend not sustainable. 

PDL as part of strategic review "put ourselves up for sale" decided he isn't needed anymore,  but resigned legitimately for the sake of adding more shares down here to get a quick buck on the sale.

So basically he quit,  loads up,  knowing they're will be interest at say above 9 from various funds

I disagree.  I think that the resignation had to do with an upcoming transaction.  He could not stay as CEO and remain impartial as he will likely be part of this transaction.  He did not have to resign to buy more shares.  His hands are no longer tied and can proceed to work with other parties to either takeover the Company or break it up and split the parts with others.  ...more

My argument against your theory is he dumped like 40m at $10-12 last year, why would he just rebuy higher at that price.  He probably is better off gong to 20% in open market and then arranging a transaction. Any idea why he stopped at 9.9%?
