I believe the buyback will start next week

As I posted before I believe that Loukas has formed a strategy for the buyback and that he is waiting in my opinion until after what I expect to be less than stellar earnings with the price of oil being manipulated lower as the prime time to initiate the buying. If the report is not so great it will cause the stock to drop and provide a great time to hit the market with the maximum 25% block order which as of today would be 136,000 shares. It could be an opturne time with the shorts descending on the stock to do just that and cause a short squeeze while allowing Loukas to grab some incredibly cheap shares. I have written Investor Relations requesting that jLoukas put in  the maximum block order to shake things up and send a message to all investors that OBE cares about them and improving shareholder value. Obsidian has lagged in this regard to  other companies that have done share buybacks or initiated or increased dividends. That time is long over due for long time OBE investors for sure. I was assured that request would be passed on to him. But of course, that is up to Loukas and it is his decsion if he wants to do it and when. By the way, todays volume at about 11:15 am est for OBE is about 50,000. Pathetic! I hope the jolt of a big block order is to come soon for all OBE investors.

You are correct. But the shorts might see an opportunity if the quarterly is bad in this down market along with all the predictions of recession. But even if the shorts don't act it will still be a great time to initiate the buyback witth a huge block trade as the interest in the stock is pathetic as illustrated by the lack of volume. That is the way I see it. There is something wrong with management communication when we have to speculate about when the share buyback will begin. Most people took from the March communication session that the buyback was to begin when the financing was secured. It was and still crickets. OBE falling back into a pattern of poor communication. When management sets an expectation they need to deliver. It's no wonder the ...more

I agree with your sentiments but not necessarily the tactics. My hope this delay in starting the buyback is based on a strategy that will optimize the use of the company's funds to buyback cheap shares while getting the greatest impact to improve the share price for investors. Loukas and the board should have a good bit of experience in coming up with a strategy to make that happen. That is ...more

As I write this, they are either buying back shares, or they are paying down debt. Both are postive. Each investor has their preference. LIke you, I assumed they would of started buying back shares in March. As a shareholder, I linked buying back with a higher share price.    I was disappointed when they had not bought back anything in March. They are required to disclose ...more
