We have to use our own product instead of importing it from the Saudi's. Plain and Simple. 

As for Carbon foot print that people throw around.

Here's some math.
1. Currently CO2 constitutes about 0.041% (equal to 410 ppm) by volume of the atmosphere.
2.Lets say all humans generate 200 PPM and we can get rid of all of us. We bring this percent down to 0.02% (Equal to 210 PPM)
3. We know this is not reasonable so lets say we can drop our CO2 generation down by 50 PPM so we are at 360 PPM which is 0.036%. WOW

This is absolutely miniscule in all the variables affecting climate change. Canada's portion is even more miniscule. So what's the ideal carbon footprint or PPM anyway? Ans: no one knows. Actually our planet is getting greener so maybe we are doing something right so if you want to credit humans for this as a result of the extra carbon that we produce, then please do so. 

If people want to be serious about carbon footprint then why aren't Canada shutting down all the coal exports to China etc...Is it Ok because we are not burning it in our back yard.
Russia exported a record amount of coal, so why aren't these protesters focsed on coal exports? We are all interconnected and its weird how people think that Canada is isolated from whats going on in the rest of the world.

What we are doing in Canada makes no sense and will absoultely make zero difference to Climate change. As if humans can control Climate change. Thats a ego trip if i have ever heard one.
