In fairness, please consider that this company was teetering on the brink of bankrupcy, and not everyone who is already underwater was either willing or able to pour more money into such a high risk venture. In hindsight, as the risks of bankrupcy diminish, averaging down was the right decision, but that was not the case for companies in better financial shape than PPR, such as Delphi, whose financiers pulled the plug on them even after the storm seemed to have passed.
