Recent big example on the benefits of leasing

Recent big example on the benefits of leasingAn example of the value -- and growing prominence -- of equipment leasing, at a massive scale

Air Canada, suffering mightily this year, recently sold a handful of planes, generating about $500MM to help ride out the covid downturn.

As part of the deal, they agreed to lease back those same planes.

The gain for AC is at least threefold:
- added liquidity
- continued use of the same equipment
- accounting and tax benefits vis a vis assets

A very good example of liquidity being so important to companies of all sizes to deal with unexpected occurrence be they negative or positive. Cash is king. Leasing is have your cake and eat it too, essentially.
