The bottom line is that it is logical to wonder why an insider is selling if things are good. I think it is also logical to look at it through a different lens if you lost a pile of money.
No, he doesn't have to state why he is selling, just needs to disclose insider transactions. If he engaged investors and offered an explanation, then at least everyone here could agree on what he said. With no stated reasons, there are many plausible, rational explanations and yours are not the only ones.
