I think

I think if Biden becomes president, Sherritt will be the biggest gainer.

Agreed and in that respect I hope Biden wins. I remember when Obama was in power, the sp of sherritt used to spike every time he made some positive move towards normalizing relations with Cuba. Im a conservative and like trump but what he is doing to the people of Cuba is a discrace

@Stratochief Disgrace not just to Cubans but Venezuelans as well. It's not like either of these nations poses any kind of threat to USA. The level of suffering being induced on the people of these two peaceful nations is disgusting.

Absolutely true.

I've been to cuba 13 times, and the people were suffering waaaaayyy before trump got into office. The Cuban government has been blaming all there problems and failed policies on the U.S. for the past 60 years. Everything Castro promised to the people was a complete lie. They supported him because he said they would have free elections in 6 months and that he was not a communist. The whole ...more

Ya ive been there too. Cuba is a good country. Good people. Its a communist country. Obama took steps to normalize relations with cuba. If that was allowed to continue today cuba would be on the road to prosperity. Instead we have this idiot in washington cutting off tourism, the free flow of money etc etc. He is trying to choke the life out of those people. How exactly is that going to bring the ...more

Strtochief: writing that 'How exactly is that going to bring the changes needed for the transition away from communism.' By normalizing relations economically and diplomatically was no guarantee of this. One need only look at China and Russia as examples.

Like i said i've been to Cuba 13 since 2010 and had many dinners in cuban peoples homes and have even stayed a few nights on occassion in Cuban houses. My Dad had been going since the 70's and liked it because it was safe, but when he retired he decided to spend his winters in mexico? ANd why? because he can go out and have a nice meal without people hounding him and begging for money ...more

If youve been to cuba 13 times im sure youve seen where they buried castro....under a rock. You bring up the past as if if matters. Its history. What cuba and sherritt for that matter needs is a path forward so the people dont have to beg any more. Do you really believe the current US policy is the path forward? Youve been to cuba 13 times and you have no appreciation of the need for change there ...more

The current castro is still in charge as 1st secretary of the communist party. It's the exact same oppressive, a$$ backwards communist government that has been in power for the past 60 years. And when he dies they have all kinds of other communists ready to take his place and continue the oppression! The government has absolutely no interest in changing. IF they did, then they would hold free ...more

Cubans where slaves of foreigner in their own country before the revolution led by Castro and Guevara.  It may not be the best political system, but today every children gets an education and access to a health system. In time, it will progress into a decent democracy but this will not happen by stigmatizing and isolating the current administration and hopefully not with another revolution. ...more

Yes every child gets an education but when they grow up they still only get paid $30 a month and will be lucky if they have toilet paper to wipe their butt with. And health system? You better just bring your own gauze and bandages because there is a fat chance the hospital won't have any. And in time it will progress into a decent democracy? I think my dad said that back in the 70's when ...more
