Link to CC with REIT CEO and team

Amazing how gutless the 4 analysts are!!! Not one question about issues that would demonstrate alignment with unitholders' interests - such as using the surplus cash to buy back units - given the deeply-discounted status of the units. Or selling some properties - since they attest that they are worth so much more than the market is assigning to the REITs implied value - and then using the cash to buy back more of the depressed units. Pathetic! These analysts are about as useless as the CBC's Rosemary Barton when it comes to questioning the Turdo Lie-berals on their vaccine procurement failures! Total suck ups!

Very well said this stock would easily turnaround if they employ this tactic

The analysts already know the answer to those questions, which would make it pointless to ask them. They aren't asking for your personal enjoyment, they are asking questions for their own analysis.

Btw... no offense meant by my last reply, your points have merit, it's just that from the analyst perspectives, it might not be worth asking.

Thanks for your comments Cap! No offence taken! FYI: Ahead of previous Q report, I wrote an email to analyst Jenny Ma requesting her to pin the CEO down re alignment with unitholders vs. SLAM's interests (since our accounts are with BMO). No reply from her nor did she address this issue during the previous or the current CC. So apparently the analysts do not care about their clients' ...more

I'm not a big fan of the banks and their analysts because unless you have millions under active management, they pretty much don't give a .... about you. I know that SOT stated last year that their priority with the cashflow would be to reduce debt under 55% of assets. Because of that, they didn't think buying back shares was a priority. You're right that they could sell assets ...more

Agreed Cap! I have 24,300 units of SOT.UN representing 1.2% of portfolio for same reasons you cited - and hoping for price recovery in the future. I have a 2% position in HR.UN for same reason, and note that those execs are more likely to align with their unithoders cuz they report holding ca. $400 mill. Cheers!

if u really do have about 10 million in public reits your f--king crazy
Comment by CanSiamCyp on Mar 01, 2021 11:30am
Thanks for calling me f'g crazy! LOL! SOT.un is 1.2% of TOTAL portfolio. Public REITs comprise 15.2% of TOTAL portfolio. Diversification! Your math skills are admirable nonetheless - as TOTAL portfolio > $9 mill. So if that is f'g crazy - there are probably more investors who would like to be f'g crazy! Cheers and have a great day!

ok u never splained it at first ;;U made it sound like 9 mill was all public reit ;; I personally invest most all of my $ in a private reit  called skyline ;; been with them since 2012;;;
Comment by CanSiamCyp on Mar 01, 2021 12:40pm
No problem! I have 18.9% of TOTAL portfolio in Skyline funds - 3 REITs plus the Clean Energy Fund. Started in 2019 and very, very pleased with performance. What percentage have you got with Skyline? Because of my aversion to concentrating too much in one "basket", I set 20% as my upper "comfort" limit on Skyline funds. What is your take on risk diversification in this respect ...more

iam pretty much all skyline  commercial and retail  reits only ;;  I was shocked that my skyline commercial reit increased 2.75 per share in 2020 reevaluation  I have 150000 shares so pretty sweet  (if i ever sell them)  for one reason or another I never liked investing in wind mills or solar panels
Comment by CanSiamCyp on Mar 01, 2021 1:11pm
I was only able to buy into the Commercial REIT during Jan. 2020 - so I was also over the moon when I saw that the unit value increased 20% in just one year. However, since their assets are mostly what other REITs classify as Industrial and I see how my Industrial REITs are performing, the message is consistent. I understand their reasoning behind delaying the update for the Retail REIT until ...more

Comment by truthseeker1 on Mar 01, 2021 2:48pm
take a look at the retail reit ? whats your opinion  suppose to have some available mid april I was told    only at like 72%  payout
Comment by CanSiamCyp on Mar 01, 2021 3:43pm
I bought more of the Retail REIT last November. It has been open for investment since then cuz they have been on a buying spree. I understood that the current buy in period was ending mid March and that there is a limited number of units remaining. But I am not interested in buying more so have not investigated further. A 72% payout ratio sounds on the low side for a Skyline REIT (usually 80-90 ...more
