It's a given that the numbers are going to be great
However, what we get Friday morning is of much greater interest to me. There is a small possibility that we could see another small dividend increase as the Quarter will effectively represent a good Year.
Will the MD&A provide any insight as to the future direction in terms of selling or buying assets?
Will we get a glimpse of where mgmt (on behalf of the NEW Board) wants to allocate funds in regards to acquistions/share buybacks/debt repayment/dividends
Will the analyst questions (particularly Phil Skolnik from Eight Capital) have any teeth or will they have been told to lay off. My gut tells me that everyone will "play nice" but I hope not.
Oil is going to do what oil is going to do. SU appears to have a clean slate upon which to move forward which makes this an exciting week for shareholders.
I suspect that even if Phil and some of the others do ask some tough questions, the company won't provide any substantive answers since they will simply say that it is too early in the process to say anything definitive.
As for the numbers, anyone with at Grade 4 math skills can calculate what the key numbers will be within a small error range so unless there is some sort of negative surprise (unlikely IMO), the whole thing will be pretty much a non event as far as a stock market reaction. The only caveat woud be a divy increase since I believe that the market hasn't price an increase into the SP.
