RE:RE:RE:RE:The Great DebateMarty...the only way he will be replaced at this point in time is if they have an open convention where Biden says he will step down and the backroom "boys" have picked someone to be nominated at the convention. For this to happen, Biden himself has to decide to step down. From discussions I have had with my American friends who are politically connected, it seems like it is Biden himself that doesn't want to step down. The Obama "wing" of the party are really angry about that. They also feel that Biden has sold out to the radicals in the Party (coming from Obama that says a lot...lol).
While it is still doable for the Dems to have someone other than Biden run, it is a 'heavy lift" to get someone to then get the necessary groundgame in place. The other big issue is the simple question of who would run instead of Biden. The fight for this could cause ruptures in the party which could spell disaster in November. For example, the Sanders/Warren wing of the party don't want Newsom and it's not clear who the Obamas favour.
The other thing I am looking at is that if the Dems try to sell Biden as a "team", given all the screwups at the border and the Afgan disaster etc that would be a tough sell.
It's going to be really interesting to see how this plays out.
But again as an investor I am looking at this from the perspective of whether there are any investment implications and if so determining what I am going to do about it.
