CEO SET $ 5/Bbl. COST COMPRESSION & CAPTURE GOAL

- in BITUMEN MINING, this works out to $ 1 per ton MINED and
MOVED

- right now, they are about the $ 2 MARK INTO THE PROCESS

- DOWNSTREAM is CONFIDENT that they can SHAVE $ 2 of the $ 5 EXPENSE REDUCTION TARGET

- one gold nugget out of the CC:

COMMERCE CITY REFINERY in COLORADO is LARGE MONEYSPINNER (when operating) despite being relatively small and isolated

* it has a PREVILIGED MARKET POSITION {I assume that they mean that they are close to DENVER INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT} and NOT MUCH COMPETITION in the ROCKY MOUNTAIN PADD 4 region

Do you think they are 'dragging their heels' on climate in favour of profit?
Comment by mrbb on Feb 22, 2024 7:55pm
All canadian oil and gas operators are tier 1 operators in term of labor law, environmental impact, and community benefit return   Your negative spin and green guilt tripping on canadian oil/gas investors is pathetic and won't work here coz we have the truth and facts. I recommend you focus your effort on china, russia, africa instead.  BTW, JT is a sock puppet, he ain't ...more

Hence why Jordan Peterson concluded canada is a sinking ship we have people like you taking up oxygen and exhaling GHG without adding value to canada

your idol has already answered your question for me, JT said: the government should get out of the way of Albertans actually innovating and creating a better future' .... https://twitter.com/i/status/1760772660852629566 Yes, the right wing extremists are fooling albertans into working in the oil/gas sector with the highest average provincial salary in canada  You can't make this ...more

ok ok, if oil companies install tampon dispenser in their men washroom just like federal workplace, would that resolve your concern about putting profit over climate? Tampons and pads mandated in Canadian parliament’s men’s bathrooms | Fox News

you mean the climate change charade
Comment by matt2018 on Feb 23, 2024 12:48pm
honestly, I am not following your nonsense here. What is it exactly that you want Suncor to do? There are lots of "green" companies to invest in.

Firstly, just acknowledge that climate change is a serious issue. Slave Lake and Ft. McMurray burning up didn't happen in a vacuum. Nor is the current drought that could cripple AB this summer. Secondly, think objectively about it and act accordingly.
Comment by matt2018 on Feb 23, 2024 7:23pm
The current drought due to the dry winter is unfortunate but not a new phenomenon. "In the 20th century, some of the most significant and persistent droughts over the U.S. and Canadian prairies were during the 'dust bowl' years of the 1920s and 1930s. The drought years of 1919–21, 1929–31, and 1936–37 have been well identified, especially in southeastern Alberta and ...more

Matt...good points but IMO climate change is going on That said, we need to put Canada's contribution from the oilsands into perpective. Data I have seen is that the oilsands produced about 70-80 megatonnes of CO2 in 2023.  This compares to China at 540 (7-8 times as much!!).  So unless these big producers of CO2 stop doing what they do, the battle against climate change is not ...more
Comment by Donwaan on Feb 23, 2024 11:44pm
Experienced, I also believe climate change is happening. You are right that reductions by the biggest CO2 emitters China, the US and EU will make the greatest impact. By the same measure the oilsands are Canada's largest CO2 emitter at 11% of Canada's total so reductions in the oilsands emissions will have the greatest impact here. All countries will need to be pulling on the same rope to ...more

Mrbb.....agreed.....as I have said in past posts-the business world is an ecosystem just like the natural environment and when Governments monkey around with it they just create problems Given that governments seem to be driven to doing this as they are now with fascination with climate change.... pragmatic investors can make a lot of money investing in companies with solutions to the problems ...more

funny that you talk about saving the planet but gave impact of oilsand GHG relative canada only Let me continue, if your 11% is correct, 11% of 1.6% of world = 0.176% on world GHG.   If entire  canadian O/G sector disappear tomorrow, the world won't notice any difference because our O/G GHG emission is a rounding error of world GHG oiutput.

Those morons depress me. They appear to live in a virtual reality. Sad. The NDP should be decimated at the next election for supporting them.
Comment by Torontojay on Feb 23, 2024 10:24am
If we're lucky, the ndp and the liberal coalition split up after March and we get an election in the fall.    The NDP have given the Trudeau government until March 1 to table pharmacare legislation in the House of Commons. Speaking with reporters on Wednesday, leader Jagmeet Singh claimed the Liberals are proposing a plan that sides with Big Pharma rather than Canadians. “So ...more
