RE:If politicians really wanted to fix the environment then...Name 1 car you can buy that has a V4 lol. Anyway Europeans have functioning transit systems which include high speed trains that'll get you where you need to go quick. If we had that here (outside of downtown Toronto or Montreal) maybe some of us would be more inclined to use it, covid notwithstanding. Also good luck finding someone with an identical schedule to you at the same workplace from the same neighbourhood for your carpool fantasy. It only works for a very small number of people. Alternatives need to be in place first otherwise carbon taxing us only decreases quality of life.

They have not and will not because they will not get elected.
NA pays way less in taxes for for gas than do europeans hence all the smaller engine use.
