RE:RE:RE:$4,500 Excellent debate.....great points on both sides of the argument!!
When I look at all this, I look at it from the perspective of a pragmatic investor.
Sooooo....what does that mean and especially in the case of the topic of the Board - ie SU?
I look for answers to fundamental questions and look around at the universe of things I can invest in and then buy into the ones with the best answers and at the same time buy with a firm strategy as to when I will sell.
Some questions.....
1.....what would have to happen for the SP to go up?
2.....Are these things likely to happen?
3.....How much is already reflected in the current SP?
4.....Is there a competing newer technology or product which will limit earnings?
5.....How much control does the company have over the pricing of its product?
Anyway.....something to think about...
From my own personal experience over the past 50+ years of investing and looking at people who have been very successful investors, finding answers to these questions in an unbiased hard nosed way results in better decision-making and higher risk adjusted returns over the long run.
In the case of SU, this leads to an answer that there are more than enough other companies with better answers to invest all of my asset allocation devoted to equity investments. The only caveat is that from time to time, the answer to Question 3 leads to a short term investment.
Up to you see if you arrive at the same conclusion or not.
