If your selling Suncor......

And you still want to stay invested in Canadian oil and gas, please let me know what your buying. I dont see any better company in this space that appears more undervalued .2022 will see the s/p double.Omicron will be the instrument that enables herd immunity against this covid pandemic and green energy has zero chance to stop oils growth for decades and politicians worldwide stance against fossil fuels will drive oil prices beyond anybodys expectations. SUNCOR IS AN EXTREMELY STRONG BUY AND HOLD.

One advantage companies like SU have is that they at least now pay a hefty dividend, so if you have to wait for the sp to recover, you can get paid to wait. Other companies that pay little to no dividend would be a nerve wracking buy right now imo

I own SU, CVE & MEG for different reasons. Had previously also had CPG, CNQ & TOG....wish I would of held onto those, but made some really good coin and continue to look for re-entry on either CNQ or TOG MEG has no dividend, no hedges and has really focused on paying down debt and now is even more focused on NCIB. A wonderful little GEM of a company that will more than likely get taken ...more

Chad:  Thanks for sharing.  The main reason that I participate in this thread is to read the thoughts - ideas - reasoning of others. When people share what securities they own and more speciically, why they own them, it is really helpful.

Ditto. Forgot to add that I really respect the SU board compared to some of the other boards. Hard to find good boards these days..... Thanks.

I was always looking to get into CVE but the lack of a div made me weary.... so I was 90% of my portfolio in SU all of last year LOL, now I'm more 65% SU, 10% ENB, and the rest cash... looking to put more in SU because this omicron thing might blow over, but then again these communists are shutting everything down.

I hear ya.... I had CVE, SU and MEG in double accounts, now I have one of each in separate accounts, TFSA, RSP and Cash accounts on top of a lot of cash that I'm waiting to deploy. I think CVE will increase divy substantailly after they get under $8B, find out very soon. Also have financials and real estate and one pipe (not ENB) but far too heavy on the cash side. Gotta say though energy and ...more

Cve had a massive one time charge. it dropped to 18.50 or so almost back up to 20. Glad i didnt sell suncor and go into that
Comment by Chad123 on Feb 11, 2022 12:39pm
Why would you sell one to go into another. Both MEG and CVE had a pullback. This was mainly due to what looked like a miss on CVE. I did not sell any shares but rather added to both MEG and CVE. SU did not drop enough for me to add more. So far so good.

Finally SU is getting a little love , premium dividend and grossly undervalued . Fasten your seatbelts and return your tray to the upright position , SU is next in line on the runway and ready for take-off .
Comment by jx7000 on Jan 05, 2022 5:52am
Well SU was a C$50+ stock not that long ago (exactly 4-years ago to be exact), and there's no reason why it shouldn't surpass that price, especially when the next war breaks out in the Middle East.

The Market just hates Suncor ... oil near 79 and we barely move

No, short sellers love SU. Just wait until the squeeze happens.

Short seller disguised a an Su supporter/shareholder? I think maybe.
Comment by jx7000 on Jan 05, 2022 4:25pm
No, I'm not a short seller. I'm holding SU now for over three years and added on the dips. I read this on the Apple bullboard and just confirmed for myself that keeping SU is good for this and next year: U.S. stock buybacks can keep surging next year   (Ignore the marketwatch.com URL posted in that article.)

jx: Thanks for posting the link to a very worthwhile read. The following was the main takeaway for me: "Deutsche Bank analysts also expect buyback volume to rise next year. “Rising earnings should propel gross buybacks to a record trillion dollars in 2022,” the analysts wrote in a Deutsche Bank Research note dated Dec. 10." Also: "Buyback volume may rise to around $848 billion ...more

All right. Fine, I'll take the bait...lol.  You asked for it!!! Here are my thought and comments on the article... 1....a trillion dollars in buybacks of shares will no doubt help the market compared to no buying at all. That said, while a trillion dollars seems like a lot of money, the total value of stocks traded in a year on US exchanges and NASDAQ is over 25 trillion dollars so we ...more

Sounds very familiar..............I also was sitting on the sidelines for 2 years in cash in the years leading up  to the  2008 crash waiting for the sub prime mortgage fiasco to blow up. Was awfully painful watching the market go up daily as the cash sat in the accounts doing nothing. Paid off  later though with some awful good bargains when it was over. You just don't know ...more

Yep - excellent points!! A great example are the hundreds of companies in the tech bubble 20 years ago.  How many of them are still around?  You can count them on your fingers.  The market can be quite brutal at times and sadly many people who are young and just starting out in their investment lives don't realize this not necessarily through their own fault.  A great ...more
