Golden Opportunity to Improve and get rid of negatives
5 deaths in the last few years is way unacceptable. That’s a lot. There has to be some flaw in the way they are approaching things.
The funny thing is I worked at Syncrude as a contractor for 12 weeks in 1990 and in those days it was rated one of the top 3 companies to work for in Canada. We had weekly safety meetings. My perception then was Syncrude had the best safety culture I had ever experienced. They were ahead of their times by a bit because the company I ended working for had to evolve to a better safety culture that was similar to what I experienced in 1990.
So maybe they just have to get back to their roots. A lot of companies are trying to get “lean” and having employees do “more with less”. Well you end up doing less with less. Maybe that’s the heart of the problem. They need to stop rushing – take their time and do things safely. If they are running understaffed then they need to hire more people.
Suncor is making the cash whether they hit the production number right on or miss by a bit. If they cannot make the projections then lower them. It seems investors are ignoring the cash they are making and focusing on whatever negatives they find. The new CEO needs to eliminate the negatives.
I hope the board sees this post and considers me for CEO. (lol)

No one cares. The moment directors go to prison and are sueed for $Bs the accidents will stop. A $2O K fine after ten years of investigation is third world.

Fire the management! Fire the supervisors! Fire the workers! In fact, just stick a pipe in the ground, then allow all the whiners, protesters, anti oil, and ESG nuts on site. With the cumulative weight and pressure by all the complainers today on top of the deposit, the oil would be squeezed out and flow by itself.
