It has been estimated that if a mining go ahead deal re the New Prosperity is announced, that it would put immediately $5.00 on our SP, and that's for starters. So 240,000,000 Taseko shares @ $6.00 = $1,440,000,000. That's how important all this is. And that's why we have a news blackout.

So what's different now, since the last decade plus some years?

Forestry is basically shuttered as compared to prior times

BC government instigated talks between FN and Taseko approx last March. Gov wants the mine to go in This is big time different

Taseko, with FN support, required an extension of the Work Permit for one year. Again this is big time different.

My gut feeling, we will see some sort of a framework between the StakeHolders, to move this mine ahead. And within the timeframe of the above mentioned Work Permit

Just an opinion based on pure scientific observation--smoke signals.

The solution cannot just be a FN payoff.  That will look like a sellout for tribal leadership.  They have to have a solution that looks like a win for the tribe AND allows the mine to move forward.  NP is on land that is outside to the tribe sovereignty but within the boundaries of their hunting and fishing rights. The other issue is that TKo has to come up with a new mine plan to ...more

Yes it can.
Comment by JCSunsfan on Aug 31, 2020 11:08am
Well.  That would make things a lot easier then.  Care to elaborate?

Yes. 5.00 copper changes things. There were no bags to devide up at 3.00 copper. Tko was permitted by gov. and not opposed by anyone untill big find. Govs. r mostly about business. Covid proved a cleaner environment is a good thing. Copper is usefull for that. Gold just comes along for the ride. With logging and fishing and tourism done in b.c. many in communities around np especially r ...more

From what i recall, the environmental plan they submitted for New Prosperity is already sound. The environmental review panel for some reason removed the engineered floor in their own model which resulted (obviously) in something like an 8 fold increase in estimated seepage from the tailings facility.

I believe that to be true.  But they would not reconsider and would not review and court appeals for review failed. Seems to me you can't just resubmit the same failed plan even if the problem was with the reviewers.  I am not Canadian and do not quite know about the process.  Anyone else shed some light on what the next step might be?

Well, they coudl alter it a bit by adding in a sunthetic liner on top of the compressed silt liner. They would be pretty hard pressed to claim seepage then. Take a look at what Pebble has proposed for the TSF. If Pebble can get the USACE to say there would be no substancial effect to the fish, then major mines in NA should be following Pebble's lead to clear the EIS hurdles. Then bring in the ...more

Maybe that would work.  BC government must be pressuring FN after all, it has already been ruled that the mine site is outside their sovereign lands.  10% seems like extortion.  I like fluffs idea, give them a split of the tax rev and call it a day.  Maybe Taseko can build a boat dock or something on Fish Lake.  Or give them the land when the mine is finished in 25 years ...more

It's not as if Russ and the management team don't think about this to some degree on a daily basis, right? Taseko isn't in any real hurry here. The more time elapses, the more important it becomes to the FN and the government as they need the money to a much greater extent. Let Taseko focus on Gibraltar, Florence and Yellowhead whilst the other NP stakeholders sweat the current ...more

I am sure you all remember what Russ said about this in the most recent CC.  Just in case you forgot: Looking forward, many folks only appear to be focused on this company through how Gibraltar’s performing, while only superficially thinking about our other assets. Certainly, I find it strange that investors nor analysts really think about the large gold reserve base we have, especially, in ...more

That just proves our previous comment. They know what they have and aren't in any hurry while they build their coiffures with cash from the magnificent trio they're focused on now. Five years from now this will be a solid mid tier miner, depending on your definition. Bottom line is we're still in the early innings of this game. Cheap shares are almost gone for good.

Being a long term shareholder of TKO,  it never ceases to amaze me what I keep finding out as time goes by.   Thats the first I've heard about the EA's own engineers removing the floor plan from the talings pond model that TKO had submitted.  Even more astounding,  once  that was pointed out,  according to their policy(rules),  you can't resubmit the ...more
