Tourmaline An Acquisition Candidate: Majors Return to Canada

Hi folks,

I have been a long-time holder (and fan) of Tourmaline. It has been really impressive what the team has created over the past decade especially during the "down" years.

Tourmaline has come through a good round of capex and acquisitions.

With the major shift going on in global energy markets and Canada's relative ranking rising, I have wondered if the "Majors" are having another look at Canada. I know that in the abscence of a deal actually being done, we are all speculating so please take this post for what it is. When I consider the strategic backdrop for Tourmaline, it would certainly fit the "ESG" criteria, "Reserve" criteria, "Infrastructure" criteria, and Production" criteria.

Analysts aren't really banging the proverbial table suggesting the Major's will return to Canada in an M&A capacity; however, I am wondering if others have a view towards this?

Appreciate your thoughts and have a great weekend!

Since 2014, the Major's have been net divestors of assets. Some have deployed capital to ...more

I bought it because nuttall recommended. I made $1.25 dividend my average is under $42 and it's sitting at 63.    I'm sadly disappointed with my $40,000 profit in under a  quarter.......... oh wait. It's nice to have a start that has nice fundamentals and I'm sure it'll go down a bit over the summer but it looks like it's got a hell of a foundation ...more

Good possibilty.  Mike has history with his old company he started and sold to Shell.  Both Mike and his wife worked for Shell.  LNG Canada to be completed in a year or two with Shell owning 40%; why not buy someone out for a product to sell.
