There was a guy speculating that a massive oil pool might be
beneath the gas cap we hope to drill into here at Chinook. I believe he is an oil guy who's been looking over the 3D . Anyone know if he'smade any further comments ?
Is there any validity to that concept .
I find this deal a bit amusing and confusing. Seems that we have old data provided by Shell who were drilling for oil but instead hit gas, and this may have happened in numerous places on our block such as Cascadura, but in that case , unless I'm mistaken, we were actually drilling for oil and we actually thought we hit oil until we completed the well and realized we made a massive gas find.
Now we are following Shells lead and are drilling for gas, not oil, but this guy suggests we might have both.
So we started out as an oil play but have morphed into a gas Co., it's like a Jedd Clampett story.
If oil is in such abundence in the turbidites offshore then why wouldn't oil be found in similiar turbidites onshore ?
I guess that was the theory until we hit gas.
Can we rule out a massive oil discovery here ?
