One wonders how much the decision to decommission was due to Angela Merkel being conned by Russia, and whether this is one more realization that she was far from the wunderkind.

Merkel begged the Russians for NS2, they were reluctant as they aleady felt opposition was building. Merkel could not accompish the nuke shoutdown without NS2. they still cannot do it. But I think the Green partys goal is to deindustrialize Germany. Maybe thats a good thing considering history.

While the shut down of nuclear plants is good for Germany or the EU is debatable I don't think there can be any doubt that it is bullsih for VET.  Germany will be more reliant on NG as a back up fuel and later a bridge fuel as it seems commited to its long term plans and goals and what better way to acquire the resource than to produce it locally. VET and XOM are poised to take ...more
