COP 28 and Canada

An article written by Joe Oliver a former Minister of Natural Resources re the COP 28 program.

Bjorn Lomborg, a noted 'anti going green' activist has stated there are two new studies that suggest the program and timing that is laid out by proponents of COP 28 result in costs of $27 Trillion per year and only provide a benefit of $4.5 Trillion. i.e. a 17 cent benefit for every $1 spent.

A quote from the article:

"At home, Justin Trudeau’s hostility to energy resources has arguably imposed on Canada the highest proportional economic burden of any other resource-rich country, including a quarter trillion dollars in lost capital investments, with no possible impact on global temperatures. With Trudeau clearly unwilling to back off his ruinous climate policies, time is running out on sending bloated delegations to COP confabs. A lucrative international environmental gig would be opportune, both for him and his long-suffering subjects."

Another article spotlighting the wisdom of our Governments and out Federal Environment Minister. Talk about going blindly down the road -- and will they ever take the blindfold off? Not likely, unless it is removed through the voting booth. I will not be in an EV in what is left of my lifetime although I might consider it if they give me a subsidy such that my OAS monthly cheque is equal to the

And, this statement out of that article: "We'll be incentivizing companies to do even more by providing credits for charging investments made by automakers, and adding predictability for investors in charging services," she said. What is the definition of "Incentivizing"? Does that suggest the use of our taxpayers dollars to gift, in some manner, to the Companies?

The national advocacy group says it's no coincidence that Quebec and B.C., where ZEV sales regulations have been in place for some time, lead the nation in sales." You can bet your bottom dollar Pandora its our tax dollars that will fund this "incentive".. these Lieberals love to spend other peoples money without consideration for the end result, and I'll guarantee this gong show of a plan will backfire on them.. it takes no forsight to see this running off the rails hard.. just like all the other blunders the gov't gets involved in... gun

Do you really think Canada has any choice in this? What would happen if Canada jjust said forget the carbon BS? I will tell you. All the G20 will erect trade barriers against Canada as our goods will be "high carbon" and we will be force dto submit. Canada is a tiny market and economy globally. We can at most infleunce policy but are largely policy takers and not makers.

And as the old saying goes "there is more than one way to skin a cat"! Not sure how much effort is put into looking at alternatives as we seem to ne going blindly down the road under other peoples influences. Are you suggesting we are doing the only thing possible?

I don't believe that for 1 minute.. Canada produces some of the cleanest crude on the market as far as crude goes, and by replacing coal with the abundant nat gas we have is the best thing for the globe we could ever do.. not to mention.. as I've said many times.. if the gubment was serious about carbon in the sky, then instead of investing billions of dollars into EV's that won't
