My post on the Village

Re: The Silent Socialist Revolution is here ——— we won’t go quietly into the night

Great post Brooke!!

The ppl are getting what they asked for: no more O&G

Only catch is you have to pay through the nose for what’s left.

I think FARRRRR to many ppl have gotten behind this feel-good “green” push without realizing what it’s gonna cost.... the TRUE implications of no more O&G

It’s one thing to hit a like button on anti-fossil fuel posts on FB.
It’s quite another when the reality of this feel-good BS his your pocket-book

I think FARRR to many avg joes figured we’d supply O&G for free until they could afford an EV
That we’d just die and go quietly into the night while they use more and more of our products every year...

Maybe I should try selling these idiots Florida Swampland LOL

And what's the #1 guess as to what will replace oil & gas as the source to fuel the future in Canada. And I would hope I would not get a stupid answer like windmills and solar. Something practical and sensible would be better. And maybe a reasonable guess at a time frame for transitioning. Keeping in mind of course that is just discussing fuel and power and has nothing to do with all of ...more

Ultimately, Oil and Gas will be replaced by Coal. It has the greatest amount of reserves and can be converted into Oil or Gas or any of the Petrochemically derived products. Much younger smart investors would do well to start accumulating shares of companies with significant reserves at bargain basement prices !!

Ontario uses hydro, nuclear, natural gas, wind & solar. Seems to work just fine.

My post about Coal was merely to point out that the global reserve life according to the EIA and other sources is estimated around 133 years versus 51 years for nat gas and 45 years for oil. Now this is a tricky subject , since reserve estimates are imprecise and changeable particularly as commodity prices change. Reserve life is also dependent upon annual consumption. My thoughts at the time of ...more

when I used to own coal, the bandied about claim was 250 years of reserves in the USA

Got Ya O N, thanks for the recap. I recall at Glace Bay hearing that the pipes rusted out because they weren't spec'd for salt water.

The original Plant had electrical tracing. The original plant was not designed by Lavalin. The electical tracing failed and the lines which were all filled with sea water froze and cracked . Great clouds of SO2 were released and had it not been for the fact that the wind was blowing the right way that day, the nearby town of Glace Bay would have been seriously harmed .The plant was to be rebuilt ...more

Well the debt was buried so we're stuck with moderately higher prices. The problem largely stemed from the rush to convert to wind & solar and over paying for such.

Also at one point we had to pay our neighbours to take surplus power off our hands due to surplus wind power. No one said things are perfect, but we do have reliable power.

That was hardly a fiasco. It was the cost of nimbyism. Most of the cost was the relocation cost and transmission losses from the new location over 20 years

Meanwhile on an International level are games being played to create impressions: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eONGlAKxJzs

The video is a rel eye opener. The Chinese are indeed in hot water (very inappropriate analogy) . The effect will be to deprive Europe of much needed LNG for a very long time. LNG is now at the centre of an international bidding war that will startle everyone before it is finally over (if ever) The only solution will be fuel switching to either coal heavy fuel oil or diesel !!

Ontario has replaced coal and oil with nuclear. No melt downs here. We use natural U3o8 and heavy water, not enriched uranium.
