Suncor doubles dividend

Suncor just announced a doubling of their dividend to 0.42 per Q  (about 6% on current share price)
Also 7% NCIB.
I wouldn't be surprised to see something similar by VET !!

Will be very interesting to see how the market reacts to this news from Suncor. VET should mirror this reaction if the markets looks at this as very positive. These oil players are paying down debt, buying back shares and increasing dividends. I think they have finally started to realize that this is the receipe for success going forward.

Wouldnt doubling it still leave us with no dividend? But seriously, what is the rush for dividends.  I would rather see some share buybacks before reinstituting dividends.  At least while the P/E is under 3!

We agree again Sclarda!! Excellent post, Sclarda. Of all the choices you laid out, I think paying off all the debt is the best, given the hostility to O and G companies by certain governments and their central bankers. But a small dividend like 10 percent of FCF seems like it could make a lot of people happy. I bought first at 18 USD and then averaged down to 5.75 USD. I admit it was the dividend that attracted me ...more
